Gontarek Family Blog: Santa Rosa

Starting on Labor Day weekend, we had the pleasure of spending a little over a week in a rented beach house right on Santa Rosa beach (near Destin). The house we rented was beautiful (picture below). However, things got off to a bit of a rocky start. In addition to us arriving to the gulf coast over Labor Day weekend, so did Tropical Storm Lee. We thought our house was going to fall in the ocean the first few days we were there, but after that, things were beautiful. In addition, while I managed to pack everything else under the sun into our car, one thing that did not make it was my suitcase which we realized 30 minutes after arriving there. After several trips to Wal-Mart, Target and the outlets, I was able to replenish my wardrobe.

Gigi and G-Pops joined us for the first week of our trip. We enjoyed hanging out at the beach with them as well as playing 'The Simpsons' Clue game several nights while we were there.

Carrie loved the beach. She loved playing in the ocean (no fear) and building sand castles (or rather tearing down ones that G-Pops and Daddy built). She also liked playing with the Mouse House that Gigi bought and a puzzle book that I got her. Andrew liked eating sand as well as everything else in the house. I think I spent about half of the time we were there feeding him something - he can eat!

We got to sneak out for dinner two nights while we were there - once with the Hills and Baggotts (who were also at the beach) at George's near Rosemary Beach and another time just the two of us at The Red Bar in Grayton. I highly recommend both.
