Mtn House Salute

A few months ago, Mom and Dad revealed the sad news to me that the mountain house is for sale.  I think of all the places I have been in my life, the deck overlooking the river at the mountain house has been my personal refuge.  How many times have I gone out there and taken a big breath of mountain air and felt like all the little problems of the world weren't too so bad...after all, the river keeps going the same as it did yesterday! Nature seems to have a way of reminding us that our current deadlines and busyness of life aren't really that important or lasting.

Anyway, I digress.  When I heard the news, I decided that I wanted to have at least one more weekend at the mountain house the way I spent most of my time there since I was a senior in college, without kids. :)  Paul and I decided to leave the kids with Gigi and G-Pops and have a weekend at the mountains. We spent 2 nights by ourselves and then were joined by Mom and Dad for a fabulous dinner the last night.  We also got to spend a afternoon hanging by the river with Christy and Davis!

Basically, we tried to make sure we did all of our favorite things at the mountain house at least one more time. Those things are:
  • Hanging by the river  - with Christy and Davis
  • Having good conversation and great food with my parents
  • Shopping at the outlets - even Paul went shopping!
  • Putt-putt - Paul won, but we both got several holes in one!
  • Mountain bar - I got a t-shirt and by some miracle beat Paul at darts
  • Hiking - we hiked up to the top of Brushy Mountain were we got engaged. We both got COMPLETELY covered in mud and Paul sprained his ankle but it was still fun.
  • Hiking to the top of the hill
  • Relaxing and reading
  • Meditating on the deck overlooking the river

Here are some pictures of our weekend! I hope we will get back at least one more time with the kids, but it will be hard to top this weekend!

At the mountain bar! This place hasn't changed in 15 years!

My miracle round!

Paul's shock and disappointment after my miracle round

View from Brushy Mountain - kind of cloudy

Me on hike - I might have gotten a little cranky by this point

Spot of our engagement - still going strong 7 years later!

My shoes after the hike - disgusting

With Christy and Davis - reliving old memories with Christy on the river!
