Go Melanie Oudin!

Monday was the big day - the day Paul especially had been waiting for! Our second trip to the US open. We went to the semi-finals two years ago as a wedding gift to Paul. This year we just went as a post-baby gift to ourselves!

We got to see a bit of the Soderling/Davydenko match first which was in one of the smaller stadium. We left that match, however, to head to the big stadium to see the 17 year old American, Melanie Oudin play Nadia Petrova. It was the most exciting, nerve-wracking, nail-biting sporting event I have ever seen. She lost the first set, won the second in a tie-break, and then one the third. The crowd was going crazy!

After that excitement, we got to see the #1 in the world, Roger Federer beat Robredo. But after the excitement of the Oudin match, the Federer match was a snore-fest. Literally, I took a small nap on Paul's shoulder!

Here is a video of Melanie hitting balls to the fans after her win.

That night we went to my favorite Mexican restaurant in NY called Rosa Mexicano where we had delicious guacamole made table-side.

Tuesday, it was back to Nashville on a scary flight but we were delighted to see our little one waiting for us. It was a harsh reality for her to return home after being held all weekend by GIgi and GPops but we think she is surviving!
